Hundreds Pay Homage to Our Lady of Remedies

On a bright Sunday that culminated the month-long celebration of the feast of our Lady of Remedies, hundreds of devotees trooped to Malate Catholic Church to pay homage to the patroness of the parish last November 19, 2023.

The highlight of the day was the Fiesta High Mass presided by the Most Reverend Leopoldo Jaucian, Bishop of Bangued, Abra. Rev.Fr. Leo Distor, Regional Director of the Missionary Society of St. Columban, and Rev. Fr. Andrei Paz, Acting Parish Priest of Malate Church, concelebrated.

It was the Bishop's first time to celebrate the Eucharist in Malate Church but he won over the hearts of the Assembly with his endearing gestures that established rapport with the people from the moment he entered the church. His beautiful homily recalled the time he started as a sacristan mayor with the SVD at Christ the King until his return to the same church to be ordained as a bishop, attributing his steadfast journey to priesthood to the guidance of the Blessed Mother.

The tradional Parangal kay Maria capped the solemn Eucharistic celebration with Fr. Andrei’s heartwarming rendition of the song Inay, with the OLRP choir providing the background voices.



The participation of the priests from the Vicariate of Nuestra Senora de Guia and the Columban Fathers, together with two other priests from our Asian neighbors, completed a lovely picture of synodality with the Malate community.
